Heel Horses for Sale

Sadie

Sadie

2006 heel/head horse. This mare is bred to be cowy and that she is. Been heeling on her for 3 years and she has the smoothest run and stop of all our horses. When we first started her she naturally wanted to run to the cow so it was easy to pattern her. She is consistantly putting herself in the right position and I have been really impressed with her ability. Heading she pulls great and takes them off correctly in the corner. Used as a pick up horse for a summer and she stayed quiet and worked great. Sadie is my go to horse in the branding pen. She is calm and serious about her job so she is very easy to get along with. She would do really well as a kids horse. She is one that will take care of a kid but if they can ride, she will do anything they ask as fast as they want. This mare is the boss in a pen of horses but is safe to be around and ride. Sadie could go a lot of different ways and could do it with any level rider.

Pecos

Bogey

2005 finished heel horse. Pecos is a puppy dog to be around with a very gentle personality. He is so easy to rope on and has the same run every time. Won a saddle on him the first jackpot he went to. He tries hard and has a big, smooth stop, things get tight fast! Pecos is very consistent and anyone can rope on him.

Harriet

Harriet1

2009 buckskin heel horse. Harriet is one of the most trainable horses we've ever owned. Bought as a yearling from the Cowan's and been roping for about 6 months. Can't say enough about this mare. Everything she does is 110%, runs hard, stops hard and is so cowy you can rope on her in a halter. She has about about 45 days of outside riding and work. Very gentle, good for any age to ride.

Andele

Andele

Andele is a 5 yr old grade gelding that has potential to be one of the best. We have been heeling on this horse since he was 3 and he is already super solid. No buck or bad habits. He is very quiet in the box, runs where you put him and stops super hard. In 2010 Mitch won a truck on this horse in Billings, MT. He was like an old pro. The music was blasting, people and horses everywhere and Andele backed in the box with his head down and went to work. He is serious about his job and has never gotten hot or mad. I've had kids heel on him and low number guys love him. He is so smooth around the corner and you can't pull him out of the ground once he stops. He has spent time outside the arena and is just as level headed as an old ranch horse. I started heading on this horse last winter and he went right to it. I don't think you could blow him up. He pulls great and faces when you ask him. Very safe to be around on the ground and in the saddle, you can catch him anywhere and hes good to haul.

Grommit

Grommit

Grommit is a ten year old paint head/heel horse. Finished and solid as they come. We have been heeling on this horse since he was a three year old. He is great in the box, won't get hot and won't cheat you. Grommit is good for any level of roper. He tries hard and stops even harder. You can place him anywhere you want to be and he won't miss the corner. Run him in their eye or hang back and let him coast, he will get you in the right position and stop when the rope leaves your hand. You can do any kind of ranch work on him and depend on him. He will do the exact same thing every run even if you leave him off for a year. You can also find him on the head horse page with more information.
